Drown on the Submarine Ride

True Story:

Was on the now-defunct submarine ride and the worker putting people on the ride didn't close the hatch all the way and, as it was explained to me, their alarm light saying the hatch was not latched was faulty.

I'm on the ride with my then-7-year-old daughter and the hatch, which we're sitting directly beneath, starts leaking profusely as we go through the waterfall.  My daughter, of course, thought it was a REAL submarine ride and we were all going to die and started screaming.  Just our luck, we're on the ride with an entire tour group of non-English-speaking tourists who are screaming, "SHHHHHHHHHH!" at her and trying to push us into the wall since, well, we were all wet, soaked to the bone.

We were met at the exit to the ride by a Disney employee who for some reason escorted us to the nursing office, where they kept telling us they would take our clothes and put them in a dryer.  After having to explain about 10 times I didn't want my all cotton outfit shrunk to mouse size in a dryer, they had someone come over from one of the stores with a large choice of clothing for us to choose from.

I actually ended up with a nice new outfit, but my daughter is still convinced Disney tried to drown us and would never go on the Submarine again.

Now that's just tragic! I can imagine how scary the flooding must have been for your poor daughter.

When they reopen the attraction next year, I'm not bringing my kids until they're SCUBA certified
